Happy New Year! As 2026 begins, do you have big goals already formed? Maybe you have some general ideas of things you’d like to accomplish, but you are still letting things percolate? Or perhaps you aren’t sure where to even start?
Wherever you land on that spectrum, I’d like to propose a solution – Small Steps. If you want to feel healthier and stronger this year in mind, body and spirit, it pretty much all comes down to small actions that you take consistently enough that they become part of your regular routine. If you’re curious, I’m going to share how we can work on this together for FREE, so keep reading 🙂
The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. -Lao Tzu

Let’s say you fall into the group of people that have big goals, or big changes you want to make to your health and fitness this year. Some of the “mistakes” I often see (and I have experienced myself) are trying to do too much/too many things all at once, or approaching things in a way that isn’t sustainable and then giving up. We might be able to go hard for a short period of time, but often we end up burning out and finding ourselves right back where we started. Or we wait for a “perfect” time to begin, instead of taking a small step now. Or the goals we have seem so big that we feel overwhelmed and allow ourselves to get defeated before we even try.
Maybe you aren’t clear on any goals right now? Possibly even feeling adrift? Or just allowing yourself time to decide what really resonates? First of all, that’s ok, and totally normal. The idea that you have to have “resolutions” and have everything figured out in January is completely made up! Feel free to release yourself from that pressure! But when we are feeling this way, sometimes we let ourselves slip into a funk, or our self-care goes by the wayside. Instead, we could take a small step and see what inspiration flows. We could take a small step to simply remind ourselves we are worthy of our own continued care and presence.
Think beyond the short term, and imagine where you could be a year from now. Consider not just big goals you want to achieve, but how you want to feel. I’m always amazed at where small steps have taken me when I stop to think about it – from big accomplishments to small habits that are now part of my daily life.
This is how I’ll be navigating some small, and big goals that I have this year, and I’m inviting YOU to join me for FREE! A couple of times a year, I do an inventory with myself about what my nutrition looks like, how much purposeful movement I am getting in my life, and other ways I need to take care of myself to function at my best. I had planned to start January this way for myself, and figured why not open up my practice to share with anyone who wants to join me – even if you’re not currently a Breakthrough member!
For 4 weeks, starting January 12th through February 8th, I’ll be regularly sharing exactly how I’m working on my own nutrition, movement, and self care-habits on my social media, and in our Breakthrough Nutrition Group on Facebook. I will also be posting content to help you succeed in that private Facebook group, answering all your questions, and helping you tackle any challenges. I’ve already posted the Small Steps, Big Results tracker in that group that you can get started with right now. Plus there’s so much info already in that group that you can use – from sample meal plans, to recipes, to worksheets on how to practice different nutrition skills.
Once again, the Small Steps, Big Results program is open to both Breakthrough members and non-members. If you want to join us, add me as a friend on Facebook and message me “Small Steps” so I know to add you to the Breakthrough Nutrition Group. If we are already friends on Facebook, and you are not already in the Group, message me “Small Steps” and I will add you.
Just like Big Results can come from Small Steps, our success can be multiplied when we surround ourselves with social and professional support. Let’s show up for ourselves the best we can in 2026, and let’s do it together!
